You think so? Go ahead and pull the skinniest kid a side at the gym and ask him to perform wide grip pulls and see how many he can do. I’m talking wide grip not close grip (a little wider then shoulder width apart) and palms facing away from the body not towards the body. You are basing your opinion on what exactly? Keep in mind I’ve trained hundreds of individuals over the years so I am basing my opinion on what I have seen with my clients.

That’s not necessarily true. You would be very surprised if you pulled 10 guys to the side of all different shapes and sizes and have them perform wide grip pull-ups. This would prove your theory to be incorrect. You are judging a book by its cover.

Terrell Owens uses these during the football season. You don’t need to lift weights to get in shape. I rarely ever use weights anymore but if I do lift weights I use Power Blocks and lift very lightly.
If using Bands isn’t your thing then you can always do Squats utilizing a Swiss Ball, Push-ups, King Dead Lifts, Pull-ups, Dips, Lunges, Reverse Pull-ups, and Hanging Leg Raise all using just your body weight.
Push-ups work your abs effectively because you are working your Core. Just remember to keep your belly button tucked in as though you are trying to make your belly button reach the back of your spine. Try doing Push-ups on a physio ball then tell me that it doesn’t work your abdominals.
I use weights cuz I have a free gym membership as part of being a student but I also have one of them workout bands at home and use it a lot, but just one i got from sports authority for cheap, it doesnt have the ankle bands or door strap or the different weights or all that high quality stuff or instruction manual and DVD...I was lookin at the TO bands and they look legit, are they a big enough upgrade over a regular workout band to make it worth dropping the 100 on em?

It's a major upgrade in so many ways and I promise you that you will not be disappointed.

I dunno if this is what youre trying to say but in my own experience I am pretty small dont weigh much fast metabolism and short arms also but Im pretty cut up too. so when it comes to exercises like pullups, pushups anything else involving my own body weight i can outlift the **** outta people who are a lot stronger than me but also a lot bigger

i was going to say the same thing. people think that if they do things like that they can "spot reduce", when all they are really doing is building muscular endurance for the particular muscle they are working.

why are we comparing a primarily lat dominant exercise with a primarily chest dominant one?
unless we are doin it to show athleticism..? um i might have missed something though

Actually I'm comparing a Horizontal Push exercise with a Vertical Pull exercise.
My point is this every guy loves to workout his chest and arms. Very rarely will they put in the same amount of work for their back as they do their chest. Pushing weight away from your chest is fairly easy to do since your back is against the bench which is also giving you leverage. Do a pull-up and now you are lifting your own body weight.
The bottom line is this if you can't pull your self up over a pull up bar for at least 10-12 reps regardless of how much you weigh then you need to stop focusing on your chest and start focusing on your back. My other point is I can take a guy that can bench 385lbs and walk him over to the pull up bar and I bet he can't pull up his own body weight which is very sad really.
I can also have that same individual place his arms at his side and give him a pencil to hold very loosely on the tip of his fingers and watch what happens to the pencil. He will not hold it out straight it will be at a 45 degree angle pointing to the inside of his body rather then straight ahead. Why is this you ask because he focuses too much attention on his chest and doesn’t have a balanced routine which ultimately is a setup for injury.
While we are on the subject why do some of you still feel like you need to isolate muscle groups when working out? Example being I’m going to work chest and biceps on Monday, legs on Tuesday, back and triceps on Wednesday, abs on Thursday and what ever else you decide to do that day and shoulders on Friday. This is poor logic and doesn’t make any sense to me at all. Train your body based on movement patters not by muscle groups. You can’t isolate muscle groups sorry.
You guys can challenge me all you want about fitness but I promise you that I can put anyone in their place when it comes to fitness and nutrition with all the years of experience I have working with clients and professional athletes my resume speaks for itself not to mention I have help written articles for Men’s Health magazine and Men’s Fitness. I will also mention my friend has appeared on the cover of Men’s Health magazine over 16 times.
