He guarenteed it even though he had a lost. Yes he paid out of pocket, but he probally gets more respect than most tourny throwers because when he guarnetees the money he actually guarantees the money. Not no $700 dollars to the winner. If he says $2.500, he actually means $2.500.

All I know is that you look like a jerk off if you guarentee $2000, and the pay off is only $700. I dont care if only 2 people show up, you still should pay out the $2000.

1st thing you should have a tourney and give away the money after you
1 book the place to have it 750-1500 on size
2 rent some tvs 400-500.00
3 borrow a few systems so people don't have to wait all day
4 pay insurance to have the event @ the venue 1000.00 in philly
5 pay a few people to help you out 300-400.00
6 get there early to make sure thing are ok when the players get there
7 run a tourney all day till 11pm
8 pay the the money to the winners base on (peeps)
8 walk out the door with nothing in your pocket so u can have a good tournament
9 the next when your in pain and you back and knees hurt from so much work ..you ask yourself why did i do this ...because we love to see you guys play and enjoy yourself ..where all your madden champs have came from

oooh then you have to understand ea and the other guys have sponsors that pay them money to do challenge (and it ain't free)after ea pays for it
and best buys gives all the prizes away ...we are small and will stay that way till we get 500-600 peeps @ some our tourneys so we can make sure that we pay they on the flyers that we pay ...this is just to let you know whAT GOES ON BEHIND DOOR YOU NEVER SEE PS I'LL BE IN THE BURG ON THE TENTH

1.First thing is only a fool would guarentee a tournament for $2500 and pay out that much money.

2.I know the pay out was this much in the N.C that just passed and if it was payed out of pocket then that hurts and lets see how many more tournys that are thrown where they guarentee the pot not even a sponsor well keep throwing away money like this.

3.Now over the years I have been to alot of tournys and granted I have been at some where there I thought there was enough ballers there to payout now I dont know how much it cost to run some of these tournaments

4.Now moving forward I think every person that throws a tournament there should be a layout of how much is going to be payed out vs how many people show up and also buy backs this can be told to everyone thats there right before the playoffs start because there is no buying into the playoffs.

I have been around the Madden thing for a long time and have run over 100 tournaments over the past few years no one in tha nation comes close to that. I have events of over 600 Madden players (forbes.com) and events with fewer than 10. With that being said, I think that Squeeze is reitterating some things that need to be addressed.

Example, my policy at KOTC East is simple and it is known from the door, on the websites, on the flyers. We need x-amount of players to pay out the maximum. If we get less than that x-amount of players, we pay out 50% of what is brought in via original payed players.

Example $10 tournament - $100 payout maximum.

We need 20 players to guarantee that maximum payout of $100.
That's $200 in $100 out.

If we get lets say 10 players instead of 20.
That means $100 in and 50% out, that would be $50.

That would mean a 50-50 split BEFORE EXPENSES. Now the player gets his/her 50% BUT by the time the promoter pays for his people, expenses, transportation etc...that money he gets is chopped. Thus let's go back to the original $100 payout. Winner gets $100 - Promoter gets $100. The promoter now pays his expenses and takes home about $60 after all is said and done, if he is lucky.

After throwing so many events over so many years I have also gained some knowledge. One of the main things that I have learned is the word GUARANTEE means NOTHING when it comes to attendence in the Madden community. I have done some experiments and I have found that GUARANTEEING does not and will not increase attendence. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE in attendence. Reputations on the word GUARANTEE in the Madden community are so tarnished that it now has no meaning to vetran attendies. Thus, from history, experience and expierimentation I would recommend that the MADDEN COMMUNITY stay away from using the word GUARANTEE. It's a matter of time before a person files a law suit for the few that still GUARANTEE with out the means to pay out. All it takes is the right person to win one of these things....Dig?
