im very very very very very nervous and very very very very very scared. it seems like obamas lead is large and it will be hard to close that gap. dont get me wrong im not giving up at all but im just stating that im nervous. i want whats best for our country and i want us to remain capitalists and not socialists or communists.

There is no way Obama will win. I love Obama he has opened doors for all minorities. He's living the American dream came from nothing to everything. He will be my president. But No way the same country where Jena 6 happened. Or when Most of the Electoral College was living during the Civil Rights movement. You have nothing to worry about McCain has to win.

As the image shows you can still win Popular vote and still lose the Electoral College votes and lose the race.

this is how the electoral college works in a nut shell. i'm explaining this just cause i feel bad about your ignorance.

each state has a certain number of representatives depending on population. the people vote for a president. the winner of the popular vote in the state wins the electoral votes. the candidate themselves choose the representatives from the state themselves. (usually the leaders of the state campaign office).

If that's how it worked then how did Bush lose the popular vote in Florida but still get the electoral college votes. you have no say when it comes down to it.

thats exactly the point of the electoral college u idiot. its based on the same premises that the house of representatives was based on. if 200 million people lived in california and only 50 million lived in the rest of the country, california alone would determine the election. the electoral college gives every state a voice.

Gore won the popular vote but lost. smh. electoral college doesnt make sense to me. i know how it works but i just dont know why its used instead of the popular vote. do the votes in DC mean more than the ones in Vermont?

they dont use popular votes cuz a big population in a state like cali would overwhelm any other states like a rhode island that voted the opposite so the electoral college was set up so based on who was popular in a state won its lectoral votes...thats y u see candidates campaign in certain states to get the popular votes for its electoral votes....pretty straightforward so that way no big states can overwhelm small states and take away their votes....
